The following is an email received from a person who contacted Pagitt after seeing the telecast. The person warned Pagitt about Jeremiah 17:9 ("The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it?") The writer shared how this verse was instrumental to their own conversion. Here is Pagitt's reply:

"I must say that I see the gospel totally differently than what you conveyed in your e-mail. I was not converted by a verse but always loved and changed (even ongoing) by a fully-participating God who created me in his image. I would strongly encourage you to have a much more full and biblical understanding of the gospel, and not form a faith based on any interpretation of one verse.

I'm not sure you'd be interested in this, but I have just finished a book somewhat on this topic. ***I think it might give you a more full understanding of the gospel than the one perverted by the likes of John MacArthur. I do not say "perverted" lightly, either.*** I really think what he communicates is so distant from the message of the Bible that it is dangerously harmful to people. If you heard the interview and his comments about a God who is "above us," I certainly hope you would see this."

I don't have an opinion on Yoga because I don't know much about it and I haven't heard much about it. However, it reminds my of two persons I knew who had experience with chi-kung (氣功). One of my pastors had cancer and picked up chi-kung to relieve his pain. It did work for him but he gave it up after a while when it started to interfere with his faith. The sister of a lady in my church picked up chi-kung for personal reasons and also experienced the mytical and physical benefits. But after just a short period of time, her mind was so messed up she had to be hospitalized. She eventually recovered after giving up chi-kung and accepting Jesus. I'll keep an open mind on the possibility that Yoga is bad as much as the possibility that there's nothing wrong with it because truth could be simple, or complex, or good, or bad, or reasonable, or unreasonable, or normal, or weird, from my point of view.

Putting Yoga aside, I think this is a great reminder that as a Christian we must guard our heart at all time. It is easy to side with the world. Have you ever caught yourself unknowingly slipped into a belief, an ideology that is perfectly rational or accepted by the vast public, but deviate from the absolute biblical truth?
